Andree Shenk (nee Soudre) passed away peacefully in Parksville on March 27 2020.
She was predeceased by husband William John Shenk and survived by her son, Lawrence Gambone and daughter-in-law, Rosie of Nanaimo.
Born in Montreal, she moved to the United States with her mother as a small child and worked there until moving back to Canada in 1947. She then lived in Victoria, Duncan and Courtenay, where she worked at farming and a department store sales lady.
While in Courtenay, Andree became active in the Unitarians, the NDP and the Voice of Women. Leaving Courtenay in 1988, she moved to Montreal until 2007, when she returned to the Island at Nanaimo. Andree loved to read and discuss politics and history, which she did right up until her stroke at age 102, an event causing her to move out of independent living at Serenity Lodge to Stanford Village in Parksville.
A remarkable person in many ways, she will be missed by all who knew her. No service by her request.
