Amelia passed away peacefully on January 22, 2015 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her only son James (Myrna), grandchildren Deanna (James), Craig (Amy) and Brandi, great grandchildren Linnea, Eden, Logan, Rafe, and Anya. She is predeceased by her mother Angelina on December 10, 1984 and sister Doris Boras on April 11, 1996.
Amelia was born January 1, 1933 to Angelina Brida and Milan Stupar in Obrez, Yugoslavia. She immigrated to Canada with her family in 1958 and Settled in Coaldale, Alberta. She then moved to Nanaimo in 1962. There Amelia worked for the First Nations Hospital until it closed, she then started working for BC Ferries in 1967, lasting 32 years.
Amelia was a loving, dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was there for her family. She was a friend to everyone. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her by her generosity.

For those wishing to pay their respect, a public visitation will be held from 8 am to 10 am Saturday January 31, 2015 at Sands Funeral Chapel, 1 Newcastle Avenue, Nanaimo, BC. Mass of a Catholic Burial will be celebrated on Saturday January 31, at 11:00 am at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 301 Machleary Street, Nanaimo, BC. Following the service, a reception will be held at 1:00 pm in the Church Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Amelia’s memory may be made to the BC Cancer Society.
