Mar 23, 1928 - Apr 12, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alvin Rudolph Gallazin.  Predeceased by his beloved wife Beverly of 55 years, Alvin passed away on April 12th with family by his side.

He is survived by his son Kurt (Heather) and his daughter Leanne (Dennis), as well as his grandchildren Marc (Melanie), Kristy (Ryan), Mia (Ken), and Laura. Papa Alvy is also survived by his great grandchildren Kaia, Koen, Gabrielle, Charlotte, and Olivia.

Alvin was born in Vancouver on March 23rd, 1928 to parents Rudolph and Maria Gallazin. The family moved to Nanaimo when Alvin was 13 years old so that his father could start his own locksmith business.

Shortly after starting school in a new city Alvin met Gino Sedola, who would become his lifelong best friend. He loved nothing more than socializing at the Nanaimo waterfront with Gino and their friends.

After graduating from high school Alvin joined his father in the family business, which then became "R. Gallazin & Son Ltd". It is also in Nanaimo where Alvin met and married the love of his life Beverly.

Dad touched many lives in his 90 years and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Van Rensberg and Nurse Next Door for helping him to live at home for as long as possible. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful care staff at Nanaimo Memory and Complex Care, where he resided for the past 9 months.

An Afternoon to Remember will be held at 1pm on Saturday April 28th at Sands Funeral Chapel in Nanaimo.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to a charity of your choice.
