Alvin Edward Ginther

January 14, 1942 - July 11, 2019
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Alvin Edward Ginther. Born the 14th of January, 1942 in Barrhead, Alberta passed away on the 11th of July, 2019 in Nanaimo B.C and is now returned to God's
loving hands. Predeceased by his parents Adolf and Bertha, the love of his life Marqueritte and his beautiful daughter Patti. Al is survived by siblings Ron, Audrey (Rick), and Rose (Eric), his partner Liz, daughter Norma (Maurice) and son Neil, two very well loved grandchildren Phillip (Liz) and Cassandra (Jarryd); the apples of his eye great grand children Abigail and Neil, and beloved in-laws John and Deanna and his beautiful niece Stacey.
Alvin and Marqueritte owned and operated Bunsmaster Bakery and Deli in Nanaimo for over 30 years. A charismatic couple, they cared greatly for those that they employed and everyone who came in the door. Alvin loved to spend time with his family, he enjoyed hosting family dinners and could often be found fishing, travelling, playing cards and watching the Canucks.
He approached life with passion, had a fantastic sense of humour and a heart that overflowed with love. Al will be deeply missed by friends and family.
The family would like to thank Dr Daniel Ontko, and especially Dr. Robin Love for their extensive care and compassion and the wonderful team of nurses in the Palliative Care Unit. Arrangements will be handled by Sands Funeral Home in Nanaimo.
A memorial service will be held on July 18, 2019 at Hope Lutheran Church, 2174 Departure Bay Rd, Nanaimo at 11 followed by the interment at Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alvin's name to the Palliative Care Unit through Nanaimo Hospital Foundation.
