Our Darling Allison passed away suddenly on Christmas Eve.
Allison was a kind, loving, and gentle soul who was the light of our lives. She will be dearly and forever missed by all those who knew her and especially by her loving husband Robert, son Konrad (Diane), Daughter Jennifer (Chet) and her grandchildren Maggie, Jack and Riley.
Allison grew up in Montreal and moved to Vancouver with Robert and Konrad in 1976. They resided in different areas of Vancouver until coming to Gabriola while on vacation. Falling in love with the island, they made it home in 1990 with Jennifer.
Allison spent her career of 40 years as an optician, managing stores for The Optical Department of London Drugs, Lenscrafters, Pearle Vision, and for the last 16 years at the Vision Centre at Walmart in Nanaimo. She provided friendly, professional service to all her customers and was dedicated to helping people to see as well as possible. She loved her job and spoke of the joys of watching a baby seeing with eyeglasses for the first time.
Allison spent her private hours gardening, building beautiful birdhouses, landscaping, reading, and watching movies. She loved music and dancing late into the night. She lived simply and was content to just be in her home and yard, enjoying the company of the many animals she adopted over the years (including a horse), all of whom she loved dearly. She currently leaves her beloved 3 cats and dog to grieve her absence.
Allison was sensitive, generous, compassionate, and always put her family first, fiercely loving each of them with her whole heart. She always gave all she had right until the end when she donated her organs. She would have found it fitting that she permanently gave someone the gift of sight.
No service by request but a private celebration of life will take place at a later date.
Allison’s ashes will be spread along the trail where she loved to walk.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the BC SPCA are greatly appreciated.
We all love you and you will be in our hearts forever my Darling.
