It is with profound sadness that his family announces his sudden passing at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital with Sheila and family by his side. Allen was predeceased by his parents, Meta and Clarence; brother, William (Bill), brother-in-law, Gordon Winter. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Sheila, her children: Kim Maybin (Norm), Karen Boies, Kathy Boies, Rob Boies (Angela), Andrea Gamble (Bill); grandchildren: Daniel, Candice (Kane), Matthew, Timothy, Sarah, Derek, Adam & Scott; great grandchild, Dominik; his children: Warren, Suzanne Martin, Glen (Janine), Allan (Georgina); grandchildren: Stacey, Jamie, Lynea, Caleb, Ocean, Malachi, Melinda (Ted); step-daughter, Tracy (Raye) and her children: Christopher, Kyla & Curtis, and 10 great-grandchildren; also surviving, sister, Cleona Winter, sister-in-law Peggy Johnson, many nieces, nephews, cousins and 2 aunts.

Al was born in Rosetown, Sask, and raised on the family farm in Zealandia. In 1944 they moved to Burnaby where he resided until his retirement in 1988. He was a fireman for 32 years with the Burnaby Fire Dept., retiring as Assistant Chief. Upon retiring Al and Sheila moved to Nanaimo. Al belonged to many groups and organizations, most notable was the Vintage Car Club of Canada, Vancouver & Nanaimo Chapters.

A Celebration of Life will be held March 19, 2011 at 2pm at Telfords Memorial Center, 595 Townsite Rd., Nanaimo, BC.

Flowers gratefully declined in favor of memorial donations to the Firefighter’s Burn Fund, Heart & Stroke Association or Nanaimo & District SPCA. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Telfords Burial & Cremation Centre.
