Allan J. Lupton

November 5, 2018
Surrounded by his family at his home in Nanaimo, Allan J. Lupton died on the evening of Monday, November 5, in his 80th year.

Allan will be sadly missed by his wife Norma, daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Laine Valentine, son and daughter- in-law, Andrew Lupton and Lila Graham and four grandchildren: Chloe, Rylan, Jack and Hannah.

Allan is also survived by his four siblings: Keith Lupton, Beth Coats, Brian Lupton and Vicki Lupton. All four travelled to Nanaimo to be with Allan in his final days.

He is predeceased by his father William (Bill) Lupton and mother Catherine (Cae) Lupton.

Al, or Luppy as he was known to his many friends, will be remembered for his kindness, quick wit and willingness to offer help and guidance to anyone who asked for it.

He was born in Chatham, Ont., in 1938 and moved to Nanaimo in 1954 when his father became publisher of the Nanaimo Daily Free Press newspaper.

Allan began working as a realtor in Nanaimo before he turned 20. He continued to work right up to the week of his death. That’s an astonishing 61 years working in real estate in Nanaimo. Through this work, Allan made many lifelong friends with both clients and colleagues.

The flag outside the Nanaimo Realty/Royal LePage office on the Old Island Highway flew half-staff last week, a tribute to Allan and his years of service. A celebration of Allan’s life will happen Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Nanaimo Golf Club at 2800 Highland Blvd., from 11 am to 1 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Allan’s name can be made to the BC Lung Association.
