SMITH, Alicia May (Johnnie)
May 29, 1934 – August 2, 2013
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Alicia on Friday, August 2, 2013. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many people.
Alicia was predeceased by her daughter, Elizabeth Irene Smith (Lisa), who passed away on March 30, 1996.
She leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, John R. Smith (Smoky). Alicia also leaves behind her son, Bill Birdsell-Smith; daughter, Charleen (John) Dodsworth and daughters Danielle and Ashley; daughter, Nikki (Gary) Patrickson and son Cassidy; granddaughters, Jacquie (Steve) Brehaut and Jennifer (Kevin) Haslam; and great-grandchildren: Keely, Skyler, Phoenix, Steele-raine, and Lyric.
In the 1970s Alicia worked with the Nanaimo Clippers Fan Club and hosted players in her home. She also traveled to Czechoslovakia with the team as their governess. Alicia was a realtor in Nanaimo during the late 70s and early 80s. In her later years, she and Smoky lived on a float house in the Johnstone Strait, which was a dream of his. Alicia was talented and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crafts.
There will be a celebration of Alicia’s life at 434 Seventh St, Nanaimo from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013.
