Alfred Edward (Ted) Rumsby, 87, of Nanaimo, B.C. passed away peacefully on Monday July 17, 2017. Ted was born in Victoria on November 29,1929 to Alf and Annie Rumsby. He lived his life in Victoria and since 1983 in Nanaimo.


Ted was a good man who loved fishing, boating (Nanaimo Yacht Club) bridge (Nanaimo Bridge Club), camping, growing vegetables, canning and just about anything including his love for making wine.

His family and friends greatly appreciated his many skills and helping hand throughout his life.


Ted is survived by his wife Doris, daughters Cyndi (Dwayne) Brideau, Arlene (Cliff) Petch and son Rick (Tracy) Rumsby stepdaughters Pat, Maureen and stepson Doug (Debbie).

He is also survived by sisters Stella (Gus) Jacklin and June McDonald.


He was loved by his grandchildren Michelle, Michael, Bonny, Danny,Chris, Laura, Heather, Andrew and Andrea, as well as his great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was predeceased by son Gary and sister Barbara Down.


There will be a Celebration of life for Ted on October 1, 2017 at The Royal Canadian Legion at 1630 East Wellington Road, Nanaimo, BC from 2pm - 5pm. Anyone who knew Ted is welcome to attend
