Alfred Amyas Clarke HIGHFIELD

December 14, 2007

HIGHFIELD, Alfred Amyas Clarke

Al passed away peacefully at home on December 14, 2007, surrounded by his wife Shirley, son Clark, and daughter Dianne.

A long-time resident of Ladysmith, Al was born in Grandview, Manitoba, on October 2, 1926, and served in the RCAF during World War II.

Working as a carpenter all his life, he made many friends in the community. He particularly enjoyed his times spent playing hockey with his teammates at the Fuller Lake arena. Full of kindness and humour, he was always willing to lend a hand to a friend, a neighbour, or a stranger.

Deeply loved and missed by Shirley, his wife of 54 years; his children Clark and Dianne; his son-in-law Brian Thomas; and grandsons Philip and Alex Thomas. He is survived by siblings Rev. Wilfred Highfield (Elspeth), Norman Highfield (Eva), Mary Hicks, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family is grateful for the care and compassion provided by Dr. F. Kennedy, the VIHA home nurses, the home care support staff, and the staff on the 4th floor of the NRGH.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Private family service.

May he rest in the arms of the Lord.
