Albert LOOR

September 2, 2002

LOOR, Albert - born July 3, 1925, passed away peacefully at home on September 2, 2002 with his family by his side, after a valiant and stubborn battle with cancer. A devoted family man, Albert is survived by Doreen, his loving wife, son Randy (Cheryl and Thomas), daughter Shaun (Yvan) and his special “grandson” Trevor. Born and raised in Nanaimo, Albert joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942. Following discharge joined brother Frank in Cumberland taking on various jobs, first working in his brother’s garage and later for Kelly Doulas which led to a po sition of Produce and Store Manager with Super Valu Stores. In the early 60’s, Albert was em ployed at the Mac Mil lan Bloe del, Har mac di vi sion, where he spent the next 28 years en joy ing his work and creat ing last ing friend ships with many of his co-workers. After retirement, Al bert en joyed trav el ing, golf ing, camp ing, fish ing and most im por tant ly, spend ing many hap py, mem o rable times with his fam i ly. Al bert looked at life en thu siastically and with a positive at ti tude; his ”glass was al ways half full”. His spon ta ne ous laugh ter and friend ly out go ing de meanor will be great ly missed by those who knew and loved him. The family thanks all those who support ed them and Al bert through out his or deal. In par tic u lar, Drs. Eh man and Walk er and home care nurse Ja net Belcham ber who pro vid ed her serv ic es above the call of duty and creat ed a special rapport with Albert during his palliative care period. Please join Albert’s family to celebrate his life at an informal gathering, at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 256, 1630 East Wellington (off Bowen Road), Nanaimo, Thursday, September 12, 1 to 3 pm.
