Public Notice: Revensong Aquatic Centre Expansion Assent Voting (Referendum)

ADVANCE NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTOR REGISTRATION

Are you eligible to vote at the Ravensong Aquatic Centre Expansion Assent Voting (Referendum) on April 5, 2025? Is your name on the current list of non-resident property electors?

If you are not sure you can find out by visiting the Regional District of Nanaimo Administration Office, 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC V9T 6N2, or by calling 250-390-4111 or toll free 1-877-607-4111, or by emailing vote@rdn.bc.ca. The office is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding statutory holidays).

Advance non-resident property elector registrations will be accepted at the Regional District of Nanaimo Administration Office until 4:30 pm on February 28, 2025. Advance registration will no longer be available after that date. Voting day registration will still be available.

In order to register in advance, a non-resident property elector must submit a completed, signed application and accompanying documents to the Regional District of Nanaimo Administration Office, 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, BC V9T 6N2 before the above deadline.

NON-RESIDENT PROPERTY ELECTOR QUALIFICATIONS

Non-Resident Property Electors must:

  • Not be entitled to register as a resident elector of the City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach, or Electoral Areas E, F, G or H of the Regional District of Nanaimo; and
  • Be 18 years of age or older on general voting day for the assent voting; and
  • Be a Canadian citizen; and
  • Be a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration; and
  • Be a registered owner of real property in the City of Parksville, Town of Qualicum Beach, or Electoral Areas E, F, G or H of the Regional District of Nanaimo for at least 30
  • days immediately before the day of registration; and
  • Not be not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or assent voting and not otherwise disqualified by law.

In addition:

  • The only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust.
  • If there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.
