Pursuant to Section 464(3) and 467(2) of the Local Government Act, the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN) advises that a Public Hearing is not being held for proposed “Regional District of Nanaimo Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2500.04, 2025” (Bylaw 2500.04). A Public Hearing is not being held as an Official Community Plan applies to the area that is subject to Bylaw 2500.04 and the RDN Board considers Bylaw 2500.04 to be consistent with “Regional District of Nanaimo Electoral Area ‘A’ Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 1620, 2011”.

Bylaw 2500.04 affects the properties shown on the location map to the left. The RDN intends to consider first reading of Bylaw 2500.04 at its regular Board meeting:

PURPOSE OF PROPOSED BYLAW

The purpose of the bylaw is to rezone the subject properties from Residential 2, Subdivision District ‘F’ (RS2F) to Medium Industry 1.2, Subdivision District ‘F’ (MI1.2F) to allow for the expansion of the existing manufacturing business currently taking place on an adjacent lot at 1329/1333 Kipp Road. Uses in the MI1.2 zone include Light Industry, Medium Industry, Marshalling Yard and Mini Storage.

WHERE CAN I INSPECT THE BYLAW?

A copy of the proposed bylaw, the Board resolution to not hold a Public Hearing, and other relevant documents may be inspected at www.getinvolved.rdn.ca/pl2023-057 or at the RDN Administration Office. The office is located at 6300 Hammond Bay Road, Nanaimo, B.C., open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding public holidays.
