NEW ACCESSIBILITY ADVISORY COMMITTEE
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS – Application Deadline Extended
The District of Lantzville is now accepting applications for six (6) volunteer members at-large to serve on its new Accessibility Advisory Committee.
The purpose of the Accessibility Advisory Committee is to support accessibility planning in Lantzville by identifying barriers and advising on how to remove and prevent barriers faced by individuals with disabilities who interact with the District. Members will review and make recommendations to support the development of an Accessibility Plan that considers how the principles of inclusion, adaptability, diversity, collaboration, self-determination and universal design can be implemented in Lantzville.
The Accessibility Advisory Committee will consist of up to seven (7) members appointed by Council based on their experience and credentials, and to the extent possible, include representation as follows:
• at least half of the members to be persons with disabilities, or individuals who support, or are from organizations that support, persons with disabilities;
- at least one Indigenous person;
- members that reflect the diversity of persons in British Columbia; and
- at least one member of Council, to be appointed as Chair.
A copy of the Call for Volunteers and regulations that outline the structure, duties and
responsibilities of the Committee (Community Charter excerpt) and Council Committee System Policy No. 3000-12 (including volunteer application form) are available at the Municipal Hall or lantzville.ca.
