One Position on Each Committee
The City of Nanaimo is currently recruiting for one volunteer at-large position for each of the Board of Variance and the Design Advisory Panel.
The successful applicant for the Board of Variance (BOV) will have a basic understanding of building and zoning regulations such as the City’s Zoning Bylaw and BC Building Code, as well as familiarity with interpreting architectural plans and documents. The Board of Variance member cannot be a member of an advisory planning commission, an elected official, or an employee of the local government that appoints them.
The successful applicant for the Design Advisory Panel (DAP) will be familiar with urban design guidelines, design principles and have the skills necessary to assist staff in establishing guidelines to ensure that the form and character of future development is of high quality and meets the needs of the community.
The term of office for each of these committees is three years, until February 2028, or as determined by Council.
