The City of Nanaimo is currently recruiting for one volunteer at-large position for the Design Advisory Panel. The Design Advisory Panel considers development permits in relation to guidelines, principles and conformance with the City Plan and reports their findings and opinions to Council. The panel provides independent, objective recommendations to the applicant, City staff and Council aimed at improving matters of design that affect the public realm.
Successful applicants for the Design Advisory Panel will be familiar with urban design guidelines, design principles and have the skills necessary to assist staff in establishing guidelines to ensure that the form and character of future development is of high quality and meets the needs of the community.
Committee application forms can be downloaded from www.nanaimo.ca or picked up from Legislative Services in City Hall (455 Wallace Street) during regular business hours. Interested applicants are encouraged to review the Design Advisory Panel meeting schedule, mandate, and terms of reference on the City website, under the Your Government/Boards and Committees, prior to applying.
The term of office for the Design Advisory Panel is three years, until August 2027, or as determined by Council.
