YPN to host all-candidates forum

The Young Professionals of Nanaimo are hosting an all-candidates forum March 10 from 4-6 p.m. at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in the Shaw Auditorium.

Democracy works best when the electorate is well informed on the issues.

That's why the Young Professionals of Nanaimo are hosting an all-candidates forum March 10 from 4-6 p.m. at the Vancouver Island Conference Centre in the Shaw Auditorium.

A byelection is scheduled for March 26 to fill a vacant council seat. Six candidates are running in the byelection.

"Even though it's a byelection it is still important that the issues are discussed and the public is aware of where each candidate stands," said Leif Bogwald, business advisor and member of YPN. "It's for seven months and a lot of important issues will come up in that seven months before the general election in November. The young professionals wanted to provide this opportunity to the public and encourage young voters."

YPN announced Friday morning that Shaw TV will be broadcasting the entire event live and will air two repeat broadcasts at later dates still yet to be confirmed.

The young professionals are looking for feedback on questions to ask the candidates. E-mail info@ypnanaimo to submit questions or comments you would like considered.
