Yarn needed to warm Nanaimo's homeless

Blankets for Canada is reaching out for yarn donations to help volunteers craft blankets for homeless.

Nanaimo's Blankets for Canada is on the search for spare yarn.

The Nanaimo chapter of Blankets for Canada is seeking yarn donations for volunteers knitting and crocheting blankets for the homeless. Last year, close to 400 blankets were distributed free of charge to organizations that care for those without shelter, from the Crisis Pregnancy Centre to the 7-10 Club and Salvation Army.

While the majority of volunteers supply their own materials to build blankets, there are some who can't afford the yarn, according to a Blankets for Canada press release. The charity is welcoming donations of three or four-ply acrylic yarn that people no longer need.

To donate, please call Helene at 250-758-5363.
