A lost wedding ring was found by a stranger and is now back on its rightful ring finger.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, a Qualicum Beach woman is “over the moon” after getting back a ring she lost at Country Club Centre in late July.

The woman removed her ring when helping her children apply sunscreen and she said she put the ring in her purse and thinks it fell out. She looked for it, couldn’t find it and notified police it was lost, but resigned herself to never seeing it again, the release noted.

However, the woman who found the ring that day in the mall parking lot made posts on several lost-and-found sites before a friend told her that Nanaimo RCMP had posted on social media about a missing wedding ring.

The release added that the owner is “so appreciative” that the person who found the ring made such an effort to return it.

“Such a feel good story for our city and nice to know there are a lot of good people out there,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, in the release.
