NANAIMO – Families ready to rock Canada Day festivities at Maffeo Sutton Park.

A farmers’ market, multicultural food fair  and entertainment are part of the annual Canada Day festivities at Maffeo Sutton Park.

The event begins at 11 a.m. with a celebration of flags and opening ceremonies and continues through 3:30 p.m. with music by The Clanns, Doctors of Rock ‘n’ Roll, The Big Mess and Myc Sharratt.

Canada Day celebrations of the country’s 148th birthday on Wednesday (July 1) are open to all ages.

Parking will not be available at Maffeo Sutton Park. City parkades at Bastion Street, Harbourfront, Port of Nanaimo Centre, parking lots at Wallace and Wentworth streets, and street parking will be free. Drivers must adhere to the two-hour time limit on street parking.

A limited number of handicap spaces will be available, however event organizers expect these to fill quickly. Drop offs will be permitted but drivers should expect delays.
