Gail Pasaluko, city horticultural supervisor, left, and Megan Davis, landscape horticulturalist, tidy up a disposal bin used to collect invasive plants species brought by residents who removed them from their gardens earlier this month.
May is invasive species month when homeowners are encouraged to remove and dispose of plants such as English ivy, Scotch broom, daphne, knotweed, blackberry and other imported plants that compete with native species.
The city will host another collection session in the Bowen Park parking lot on Wall Street on May 31, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
