Visiting paraglider victim of theft

NANAIMO - Police hope public can help find paraglider’s stolen gear.

Nanaimo RCMP are turning to the public to help a visiting paraglider recover his stolen equipment.

The victim, who is visiting from New Zealand, had approximately $20,000 worth of paragliding equipment stolen from a rental vehicle parked at Sea Lion Place July 13.

Items taken included tow complete paragliding packs, plus a Samsung smartphone, tents, poles, foldable hiking poles, a GPS unit, a handheld radio and a blue and black Advance brand harness.

The owner has already reached out to the local paragliding community and gone to all the pawn shops in Nanaimo, with no success at recovering any of the items.
