Nanaimo RCMP and Fire Rescue were on scene in downtown Nanaimo this afternoon, after a vehicle incident sheared a tree, which fell onto a parked car.

Police and firefighters were called out to the 100 block of Terminal Avenue at 12:20 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3, when a Honda Fit parked near the Lordco Auto Parts store had suffered damage to the driver’s side.

Citing information from customers, Ryan Sundquist, Lordco manager, said someone backed into the tree, which fell onto the hatchback.

Firefighters sawed the tree and removed the debris.

The driver of the Honda Fit wasn’t in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
