UPDATED: Westwood Lake Park reopens after windstorm

NANAIMO – Nanaimo's parks department shut down Westwood Lake Park for safety reasons during Tuesday's windstorm

Westwood Lake Park reopened to visitors Wednesday after a heavy westerly windstorm caused Nanaimo's parks department to close the popular recreation area yesterday.

A number of large trees came down within the park and officials concerned for the safety of visitors decided to close the area.

The park is open, but public washrooms remained closed Wednesday morning due to a power outage. Once power is restored, the washrooms will reopen as well.
