A man has died after losing control of his motorcycle on the Island Highway in the Lantzville area on Friday afternoon.
The man drove his motorcycle off the right side of the highway in the 8300 block near Bayview Drive Park and the accident was reported at approximately 4:15 p.m., said Const. Gary O'Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, in a press release.
There were no other vehicles involved. Emergency crews attended the scene and RCMP say there was limited access through the lanes for about three hours. A traffic analyst attended and the scene was controlled with the assistance of Emcon Services.
Traffic flow was back to normal within a few hours.
The identity of the man hasn't been released, pending notification of next of kin.
The incident is still under investigation.
