UPDATE: Westwood Lake reopened to swimmers

NANAIMO – Lake to swimmers Friday due to high levels of E.coli bacteria in water and has now been reopened.


Westwood Lake has been reopened to the public after testing found the E.coli bacteria count within acceptable levels.

Island Health informed the city Friday that the E. coli count at Westwood Lake exceeds the allowable limit. Results from water tests conducted on Monday were sent to the city today (July 15), showing the lake could be reopened to swimmers.

The lake is tested on a regular basis.
