NANAIMO – Police file charges in teen stabbing incident from weekend.

One suspect has been charged following a stabbing early Sunday in the 200 block of Craig Street.

Emergency services responded to a 911 call shortly after 7 a.m. about a male who had been stabbed multiple times.

Mounties found one female and three males, age 13 to 19,  in a nearby residence and took them into custody.

“It appears an altercation ensued in one of the units of the apartment block,” said Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.

The apartment was secured by officers until a search warrant was granted so the unit could be entered and searched.

Joyce Gloria Howard, 19, of Nanaimo, was formally charged with one count of aggravated assault Monday and  will appear in Nanaimo provincial court Tuesday (March 25) to determine if  she is to be released or remain in custody.
