UPDATE: Nanaimo man charged with aggravated assault in stabbing

NANAIMO – Stabbing victim rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A 38-year-old man was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital after he was stabbed in Harewood Wednesday.

The assault happened shortly before 7 p.m. when police received multiple 911 calls that a man had been stabbed in the 500 block of Sixth Street where officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds.

He was rushed to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and then airlifted to Vancouver.

Further investigation led Mounties to a nearby townhouse where they arrested a 37-year-old resident.

Police secured the residence while they waited for a warrant to be issued to conduct a search.

Duncan Gosh was charged with aggravated assault in Nanaimo provincial court Friday for the stabbing.

The victim of the stabbing is healing from his injuries.

“He’s expected to make a full recovery,” said Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong, spokeswoman for Nanaimo RCMP.
