Police are hunting for a man who ransacked a couple's home while they slept, then threatened the homeowner who awoke and confronted him.

The couple called police shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday after the woman woke up and found a strange man in their bedroom.

Her husband woke up when the woman screamed and as she called 911, her husband confronted the suspect who pulled a knife, threatened the husband, then fled from the home, located on the 2100 block of Meredith Road, and ran off down Tulsa Road.

Mounties responded with a police dog unit that picked up a track, but lost it where the suspect might have had a car waiting for him.

Police said numerous items had been taken from the home.

The suspect is described as Caucasian, 5'10" tall with short, cropped hair and wearing a light grey hoodie and black gloves. Police released a composite sketch of the suspect Monday.
