Two Nanaimo men arrested for break and enter

Two men were arrested Friday following a break and enter in Lantzville.

Two men were arrested Friday following a break and enter in Lantzville.

Police were called out shortly after 1 p.m. to a home in the 6800 block of Stone Road after a neighbour spotted a strange car in the driveway.

When the vehicle drove off, the woman noticed damage to the home and some money left in the driveway.

The witness gave the suspicious car's licence plate number to police. RCMP members were familiar with the licence plate and started patrols around Lantzville and the neighbourhood of the car's registered owner.

Police tracked down the car and arrested two Nanaimo men who were both charged with breaking and entering and possession of stolen property. Both men are being held in custody.

Malakai James Coyle, 22, will make his next court appearance in Nanaimo provincial court May 3.

Carlos Leonardo Olivera, 41, is scheduled to appear at Nanaimo provincial court May 16.

Sgt. Sheryl Armstrong, Nanaimo RCMP spokeswoman, credited the quick action and description provided by the neighbour with helping police arrest the suspects.
