A motorcyclist was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries after an accident on Terminal Avenue in Nanaimo earlier this morning.

Nanaimo RCMP, B.C. Ambulance Service and Nanaimo Fire Rescue responded to a report of a motor vehicle incident at 9 a.m. on Terminal Avenue, near the intersection at Cypress Street, on Thursday, Aug. 13. The accident involved two motorcycles, according to first responders on scene.

“It looks like, as of right now, we have just one injury,” said acting Capt. Colin Ferguson with Nanaimo Fire Rescue, adding that one of the motorcycles involved in the crash was travelling with two other motorcycles, while the motorcyclist who was injured was not riding with that group.

Ferguson said the motorcyclist was treated by paramedics on scene before being taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital.

Police closed off Terminal Avenue due to the accident, but the road re-opened to traffic by 9:40 a.m.
