Crash along the highway closes Nanaimo’s Cranberry Avenue

Drivers OK after collision involving two pickup trucks

Traffic flowing again in Chase River in Nanaimo after a T-bone crash earlier this afternoon.

First responders were called to the intersection of Cranberry Avenue and the Trans-Canada Highway just before 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, after a motor vehicle incident involving two pickup trucks. One vehicle was drivable, but the other had rolled onto its side.

Both drivers were examined by paramedics, but neither needed to be taken to hospital.

According to the most recent available crash data from ICBC, there were 18 crashes at the Cranberry-TCH intersection in 2021 and 81 in the five-year period from 2017-21.
