Thieves strike rural convenience store

NANAIMO – Chuckwagon Market raided for cash and lottery tickets in early morning break and enter.

Ladysmith RCMP are tracking down the suspects behind an early morning convenience store break and enter.

The Chuckwagon Market, in Ladysmith’s North Oyster district at 13672 Cedar Rd. on the south intersection of Cedar and Yellow Point roads, suffered extensive damage and lost an undisclosed amount of cash and lottery tickets when it was broken into early Monday.

Police retrieved security footage from the store that showed two men climb onto the roof of the building at about 4:30 a.m. and squeeze through a small window to get into the store.

Both suspects wore black balaclavas and black hoodies. One of the hoodies had a logo with writing on the sleeve.

One male is described as tall and thin. The second is shorter with an average build.

A newer model, ivory colour, four-door car be seen outside the store might be associated to the incident.

Const. Joanne Ruppenthal with the Ladysmith RCMP detachment said there have been several other break-ins and attempted break-ins in the area in recent weeks.
