Thieves crash through chain-link fence in Nanaimo to steal catalytic converters

Thieves rang in the new year by crashing through a fence at a Nanaimo business to get at catalytic converters.

According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, the break-and-enter happened at Berk’s Intertruck on McCullough Road sometime overnight Jan. 1.

“The complainant said that during the evening, an unidentified vehicle drove through the chain-link fence surrounding their property,” the release noted. “Unknown persons then made their way to several trucks in the compound and removed catalytic converters from at least two vehicles.”

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345 and quote file No. 2023-73.
