A man wanted in connection with a pair of late-November robberies in north Nanaimo has been arrested and will see his next day in court Feb. 13.
According to Nanaimo RCMP, Brandon Maxwell Hopkins, 23 at the time of the incident, is the suspect in a robbery at the Tim Hortons restaurant at Dickinson Crossing, which took place after midnight Nov. 29. In that incident, a man appeared at the drive-thru window wielding a knife and demanding cash. The employee didn’t hand any money over and the suspect left the scene.
Hopkins is also a suspect in a Nov. 29 bank robbery. At 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29, the suspect was alleged to have entered the Scotiabank on North Island Highway, near Costco, with a note demanding money, said police, but no weapon was observed in that instance. Money was turned over to the man, who left the bank.

Hopkins was identified by police and warrants were issued in December. He faces two charges of armed robbery and one of possessing a weapon for dangerous purpose.
According to Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman, Hopkins was arrested in Abbotsford on Jan. 25.
Hopkins had an appearance at provincial court in Nanaimo yesterday and is remanded into custody until Feb. 13. He is also scheduled to have a bail hearing on Feb. 13, according to B.C. Crown counsel.
