We have an official Nanaimo bar recipe but what we really want to know is: who makes the best in the Harbour City?

Best Place to Get a Nanaimo Bar is a new category this year in the News Bulletin’s annual Best of the City reader survey.

The survey, which launched today on our website and Facebook page, asks readers to submit their top picks for all sorts of things, from Best Lighting Store to Best Nachos.

The survey is open until May 10, after which the results will be compiled to decide the Top 3 winners of each category. Awards will be announced in the annual Best of the City supplement in the June 28 edition of the News Bulletin.

But it’s not just Nanaimo businesses that win with Best of the City – everyone who fills out the survey will be entered into a draw for prizes, including a $250 gas card for Mid-Island Co-op, a prize package from Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association valued at $250, and a private sunset kayak tour around Newcastle Island for the winner and five friends from Alberni Outpost.
