Student-led conference looks at water, energy

NANAIMO – Vancouver Island University's Avenues for Action 2014 is set for Saturday (March 15).

A student-led conference that looks at water, energy and community engagement is set for Saturday (March 15) at Vancouver Island University.

Avenues for Action runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in building 355 and features keynote speaker Michael M'Gonigle, a professor of environmental law and policy at the University of Victoria and lead author of Planet U: Sustaining the World, Reinventing the University.

Workshops scheduled for the morning include marine renewable energy, energy and sustainability and Nanaimo's master plan, while a workshop on rain barrels and garden irrigation is set for the afternoon.

Workshops are free and are open to students, staff, faculty and community members.
