NANAIMO – Search warrants executed by police yielded arrests and the seizure of street drugs, money and a weapon on Thursday.

According to a press release, Nanaimo RCMP and the street crimes unit executed the warrants on residences in the 600 block of Nova Street and 500 block of Ninth Street in Nanaimo.

“The search resulted in the arrest of six adults and the seizure of 10 grams of cocaine, 5.5 grams of heroin, 66 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a SKS rifle, and Canadian currency,” said Sheryl Armstrong, Nanaimo RCMP spokeswoman, in the press release.

In addition, police also searched a vehicle and nine grams of heroin, which they suspect was laced with fentanyl, another three grams of heroin and more Canadian currency was seized.

A 24-year-old female and a 49-year-old male were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Nanaimo provincial court on Nov. 10.

A 47-year-old female was released with a court date scheduled for July 28.

A 28-year-old male was remanded into custody and will make an appearance Monday (July 6), while another 28-year-old male is in custody awaiting a hearing.

A warrant will be requested for a 23-year-old female thought to be involved in the selling and distributing of illegal narcotics.
