Michelle Stilwell, MLA for Parksville-Qualicum, will take over for Don McRae as Minister of Social Development and Social Innovation.
McRae asked to be relieved of his duties with cabinet due to health concerns with a family member, although he will remain as Comox Valley MLA.
Stilwell, also government caucus chairwoman, was expected to be sworn in on today (Feb. 2) and has the support of Premier Christy Clark.
“Michelle Stilwell has excelled at everything she has done, including as our caucus chair,” Clark said in a press release. “She will continue to provide a strong voice from Vancouver Island in cabinet.”
