Speaking tour supports marijuana referendum

NANAIMO – Campaign to decriminalize cannabis possession in province rolls into town Sunday (Dec. 9).

Dana Larsen, who last year ran for the leadership of the B.C. NDP, is touring Vancouver Island over the next two weeks to promote the Sensible Policing Act, which would decriminalize cannabis possession in the province.

Larsen is leading the Sensible B.C. campaign to have a referendum on the Sensible Policing Act, putting volunteers in place to collect the official signatures needed from September to November of 2013.

“The lawyers at Elections B.C. have confirmed that this legislation is within provincial jurisdiction and suitable for a referendum,” Larsen said.

Larsen will be speaking at Harbourfront library in downtown Nanaimo Sunday (Dec. 9), 2-3:30 p.m.
