The first all-candidates’ meeting had lively moments, and now all the candidates have a second chance to compare and contrast their views.
Nanaimo’s South End Community Association hosts an all-candidates’ meeting tonight, April 29, with all six Nanaimo-Ladysmith candidates slated to participate.
“This meeting is an opportunity for south end residents to ask Nanaimo-Ladysmith byelection candidates about their concerns, and to raise awareness about the issues facing this vibrant community, which reflects Nanaimo’s history as a working man’s town, and its new identity as a centre for the arts, culture and community spirit,” notes a SECA press release.
Association chairman Sandy McLellan said the questions about federal issues will be pertinent to the south end and the rest of Nanaimo, noting that possible topics could include development of Port of Nanaimo lands, First Nations relationships, transportation investment, and more.
Candidate expected to attend include Bob Chamberlin, NDP; Jennifer Clarke, People’s Party of Canada; Michelle Corfield, Liberals; John Hirst, Conservatives; Paul Manly, Green Party; and Brian Marlatt, Progressive Canadian Party.
The debate will be held at the Harbour City Theatre, 25 Victoria Rd., starting at 6:30 p.m.
