UPDATE: The 51-year-old man who had been missing has been located and is safe and sound, say Nanaimo RCMP.
PREVIOUSLY POSTED: The Nanaimo Search and Rescue searching in the area of the Living Forest Campground, located on Maki Road, for a 51-year-old Nanaimo man.
According to police, Cortney Latoski was last seen at about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Southgate Mall. The Nanaimo RCMP were contacted by family members around 6 p.m. last night and immediately contacted NSAR for assistance.
Latoski, who has MS, is an avid hiker and is known to hike for several hours at a stretch. When he did not return to his home by 3 p.m., his family became worried and searched for him for several hours before contacting the Nanaimo RCMP for help.
Latoski’s hikes are usually in the area of Maki Road, including the area of the Living Forest Campground and the surrounding forest.

Nanaimo Search and Rescue started its search for Latoski at approximately 9 p.m. Tuesday and searched until 2:30 a.m. without success. The search was expected to recommence at 8:30 am on this morning.
Latoski is Caucasian, 5-foot-11, with a slim build. The photo provided of him is recent. Latoski is believed to be wearing a black quilted jacket, acid washed jeans and new white runners.
