Nanaimo-based student jazz groups will be joined by two celebrated American artists at the Friends of Nanaimo Jazz Society’s annual Jazz Affair.

On Friday, June 2, internationally known jazz artists Alexander Claffy, a composer and bassist, and Benny Benack III, a trumpeter and vocalist, will headline a show in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre’s Shaw Auditorium with Nanaimo’s own John Lee on drums.

Jazz Affair will also feature some Nanaimo student groups including vocalist Sarah Stevenson, a Wellington Secondary School student who won an excellence in performance award at MusicFest Canada in Niagara Falls, Ont., this month.
