Regional District of Nanaimo raises watering restrictions

NANAIMO – Just like the City of Nanaimo, regional district will implement Stage 2 watering restrictions Sunday (May 1).

Just like the City of Nanaimo, the Regional District of Nanaimo has announced that it too will implement Stage 2 watering restrictions.

In a press release, the regional district said customers in its eight water service areas must adhere to the restrictions effective Sunday (May 1), which will see even number addresses watering on even-numbered days and odd number addresses following suit on odd-numbered days.

Sprinkling can only be done for a maximum of two hours between 7 and 10 a.m. or 7 and 10 p.m.

Hand watering and drip and micro irrigation can continue at any time, said the regional district.

The restrictions do not apply to vegetable and food gardens, and washing cars and outdoor surfaces and filling of fountains, hot tubs and pools is still allowable under stage 2, it said.
