RCMP and search and rescue teams are combing areas of north Nanaimo and Lantzville for a missing man.

Gregory McKenzie, 64, was last seen at about 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 2, at his north Nanaimo residence.

“Based on information provided by the family, they are extremely concerned for his safety and well-being,” said reserve Const. Gary O’Brien, Nanaimo RCMP spokesman.

O’Brien said initial search efforts were originally focused on the Green Lake area, but have since been extended to other urban areas throughout north Nanaimo.

McKenzie is 5-foot-9, 170 pounds with curly white hair and has blue eyes. He may be wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue pants and a grey zip-up hoodie.

O’Brien said the resources involved in the search included RCMP officers, including a police dog team, search and rescue agencies and an RCMP helicopter.

Anyone who sees McKenzie or knows of his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Nanaimo RCMP detachment non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
