Nanaimo Search and Rescue has set up operations at Westwood Lake as the search for a missing man intensifies.
Lionel Cayer, 65, has not been seen or heard from since about 8 a.m. Sunday, according to Nanaimo RCMP.
According to police, Cayer is struggling with some personal issues and requires daily medication that he does not have with him. It has caused concern among his family and friends.

Cayer is white, 5-foot-3, 140 pounds with greying hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo of a flower on his left hand.
At approximately 2:30 p.m. this afternoon, April 25, Cayer’s vehicle was located parked at Westwood Lake.
Nanaimo Search and Rescue will be starting a ground search. They also have access to a boat if needed. Nanaimo RCMP resources committed to the search include the Air 8 helicopter, Nanaimo Bike Unit and several RCMP police dogs.
Anyone who knows Cayer’s whereabouts, or has information which can assist with the investigation, is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP at 250-754-2345.
