Public hearing for rezoning of Hilton hotel scheduled

NANAIMO – The city will hold a public meeting for changing the allowable height and density on two Front Street properties on Sept. 4.

Nanaimo residents can weigh in on rezoning for a proposed high-rise hotel during a public hearing this September.

The City of Nanaimo will hold a public hearing Sept. 4 to get feedback on rezoning land for Insight Holdings’ proposed Hilton hotel. The company wants to increase height and density on its two Front Street properties. Currently the tallest skyscraper allowed on its largest piece of land – 10 Front Street – is 23 storeys, but the hotel is proposed to reach 35 storeys from the waterfront.

The meeting is at 7 p.m in the Vancouver Island Conference Centre’s Shaw Auditorium. For more information, please see the city's public hearing notice at http://goo.gl/bxwCpu.
