Two thieves got away with watches and a ring, but left behind a cell phone after being spotted stealing from a vehicle in a carport this past weekend.
According to a Nanaimo RCMP press release, a homeowner in the 4100 block of Ross Road called police just before midnight on Sunday, June 18, to report that he had “scared off two teenage males from his carport.”
The thieves got away with two watches and a white gold ring with a ruby stone, but police say it appears the suspects “inadvertently” left behind an iPhone and grey ball cap with a Punisher skull logo.
RCMP received reports of at least two other thefts from vehicles over the past few days, with a grey suitcase stolen from an older-model Volvo parked in the 200 block of Terminal Avenue in a smash-and-grab on June 16, and a passport and Harley-Davidson motorcycle helmet stolen from a Dodge Charger parked on Campbell Street on June 18.
Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
