Port of Nanaimo’s job fair event goes virtual this year

Port Connect will showcase employment opportunities via video conferencing

Networking will be done virtually for the Port of Nanaimo’s Port Connect job fair this year.

The event, which presents job opportunities from companies connected to the Port of Nanaimo to prospective employees, will be held Nov. 24.

2020 marks the third year for the job fair – put on by the port authority and Work B.C. – and it has drawn hundreds of people in the past.

This year’s virtual format will feature a series of online interviews via video conferencing so participants can showcase their companies and employment opportunities to job seekers. Some of the participating employers include B.C. Ferries, Seaspan, Western Canada Marine Response Corporation, Herold Engineering, DP World, Port of Nanaimo, B.C. Vehicle Processing Centre and Seamor Marine.
