Police need public tips on crimes

Sometime overnight on Feb. 17, a red 2009 scooter with B.C. plate L86299 was stolen from the parking lot  in front of 4Cats Art Studio, located at 7221 Lantzville Rd.

At approximately 11:50 p.m. on Feb. 17, three youths attempted to break into Lucky’s Liquor Store at Country Club Centre, 3296 Island Hwy. The suspects were unable to enter the building and were captured on surveillance video.

Sometime overnight on Feb. 19, two vending machines at Wild Play in Cassidy were broken into. Candy and money were taken.

Sometime between 3-9 p.m. on Feb. 19, a white Norco Bush Pilot bicycle was taken from in front of Wal-Mart.

Sometime overnight on Feb. 20, advertising banners were stolen from in front of Velvet Paws at 615 Bowen Rd. One of the banners was  1x2 metres and was advertising for ENOVA golf.

On Feb. 21, Slegg Lumber reported theft of wood from its compound that has been occurring over an extended period of time. It is believed some of the wood is being used to construct tree forts and compounds in the Boban Drive neighbourhood.

Sometime overnight on Feb. 23, several areas along 158 Promenade Dr. at Cameron Island were hit with graffiti. The tags, on stairwells, light posts, signs and hydro boxes, were done in black and blue paint.

On Friday Feb. 24, an attempted break-in was reported at Marsh and Son’s Jewelry, at 3392 Norwell Dr. Suspects attempted to enter through the roof, but did not gain access.

Over the last week of February, four barns at the Vancouver Island Exhibition grounds at Beban Park, 2300 Bowen Rd., were broken into. Various boards were ripped off allowing for access. Once inside a truck battery and some tools were taken.

Sometime overnight on Feb. 27, Applecross Automotive, at 6430 Hammond Bay Rd., was broken into. Entry was gained by prying open the front door. Once inside, drawers were rummaged through and various small items were stolen.

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for these crimes.
